1923 Studebaker Special Six
The 1924 Argentine Gran Premio Winner
1923 Studebaker Special six, winner of the Argentine Gran Premio in 1924. This car had languished in the back of a friends show room for some time. He had purchased a garage with all the contents including the Studebaker. I had walked past it many times assuming it was a just a kit car until one day whilst waiting around I took a closer look. Yep, the hairs on my neck stood up. On my way home I called in to see another pal of mine in the old car game John Brown. On description alone John insisted that we should go that day to buy it, which we did. We knew nothing about it, only that it looked original & it was not a kit car. Within a few weeks of researching we found the history. Driven by Mariano de la Fuente the Special Six had won the Argentine Gran Premio in 1924! Pictured below in '24, then again in 1985 with yours truly. Sold. (Another car we should have kept).
