1952 Ex RAF Standard Vanguard Phase 1A Pick up truck. 1952 Standard Vanguard Pickup Truck. Ex British Royal Airforce. 4 Speed floor change gearbox fitted by the RAF. Recently MOT'D. The last elderly owner was an ex RAF groundcrew and used one of these in his glory days, the previous owner to him was a Aircraft Engineer who I beleive was also ex RAF. Whilst at the MOT station I was reminded how solid the vehicle is underneath.. It has a seperate solid looking chassis with heavy duty springs for running around six personel on a airfield. Plus the driver and two passengers on the split bench seat arrangement. Being a 2.1 overhead valve engine with 4 speed gear box it is quite spritely. The engine holds good oil pressure hot or cold, there are no nasty noises from the engine, gearbox or running gear. I have been told this may be the only ex RAF Vanguard pickup left running on the road in the UK. Paintwork as you can see is quite old but respectable, the khaki canvas roof has been painted blue, so the canvas is a little stiff. The engine & gearbox are still in the military light green colour. Seats, carpets and in the back are quite good. It has a old brass fire extingisher, tool roll, jack, and a rare Air Ministry fuel can. Also a huge history file with RAF books & manuals. A heritage certificate confirming authenticity a V5C registration document, old Mot's and a new one done just recently. Use this vehicle as is and drive it to military or classic car shows. It will be one of the rarest vehicles there. £SOLD
